Leader in Asset Management Gains Popularity with School Districts for Cost-Saving Abilities

HOUSTON, November 30, 2011 (PR Newswire) – IPM Asset Solutions, Inc., an international provider of RFID-enabled asset management and tracking systems, is proud to announce its ongoing success in helping budget-conscious school districts solve fundamental asset management problems and address financial challenges through increased efficiency in their operations.

Among only two RFID-enabled asset management companies approved by the Texas Department of Information Resources (TxDIR) to work with state entities, IPM has made its mark by focusing on helping those clients for whom return on investment (ROI) is the primary concern and where it directly impacts the funds available for educational services. For these clients, ROI is frequently measured in months instead of years. It is a demanding environment, and one where IPM’s focus on quality, affordability and efficiency has stood out among the field and shown that its services can bring real value to these districts.

No solution can be cookie-cutter simple, and IPM approaches each situation with a blank canvas to determine the best solution for each client’s specific needs. At Dickinson Independent School District, IPM faced a situation with a relatively small warehouse that already had an inefficient bar code system in place. Rather than burden the school with the cost of a full new system, IPM worked with their existing asset management vendor to build a mobile interface that dramatically improved efficiency – including real time updates and order processing. IPM’s cooperative and creative approach has greatly benefited the school district, and at a fraction of the cost of a full overhaul.

Purchasing Director Charles Miller of Dickinson ISD believes that IPM Asset Solutions’ valuable services are something that other districts should consider. “We were impressed with IPM’s integrity, technical knowledge and concern for our success,” he says. “I’m pleased with their performance and would highly recommend their services to others.” Miller went on to describe how the improvements have simplified their processes, saved time, and virtually eliminated human error from the equation.

At IPM, the focus on schools and making a difference starts at the top. “We’re honored to have become a trusted resource to so many Texas school districts,” said Sheila McIlnay, IPM’s Chief Executive Officer and Founder. “Just as with many areas around the country, Texas schools are burdened with budget cuts and limited resources. We’re thrilled that our solutions are helping these districts streamline their operations, improve efficiency and provide better services to our kids and grandkids.”

Houston-Based IPM, Inc. Awarded RFID Partnership With Texas Department of Information Resources

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOUSTON (6/25/09) — Independent Professional Management, Inc., (IPM), is pleased to announce a contract with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) to become a supplier to the GoDIRect program for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Under the program, the state has negotiated a single contract for RFID services on behalf of any eligible organizations that receive state funding.

For example, any school district or a state agency employee who types “RFID” at the GoDIRect website will be directed to a special IPM website that provides details, pricing and contact information on RFID implementations. By utilizing this program, public organizations can avoid the costly and time consuming bid process while assuring its stakeholders of the best services at the best prices. IPM will work with its sister company, IPM Asset Solutions, Inc., to fulfill many of those services.

“We are excited to be a part of the GoDIRect program,” said Steve Young, COO of IPM. “Public institutions must become more efficient and save money in an economic climate where states are struggling to meet their constituents’ needs. IPM is ready to help those institutions meet their goals.”

RFID is a next generation technology utilized in asset tracking, file management, inventory tracking and child security, among other applications. RFID, developed in WWII but just now becoming commercially feasible, is a tagging system used to locate, track and manage any type of item — from tiny instruments to textbooks to computer equipment. The RFID system utilizes a small tag with a flat embedded antenna affixed to the items being tracked. When an RFID reader sends a signal, the RFID chip responds with the identification code embedded in the tag and provides tracking information about the item.

“Our proprietary ‘Roaming Moose™’ brand software connects front-end RFID data collection technology to our 24/7 web-based asset management system,” said Sheila McIlnay, CEO of IPM. “We are pleased to help the state improve service and save money by bringing this technology to the public sector through DIR.”
